|Oh the sweet smell of mediocrity!|
So we're two days in to the Magazine Journalism Course at the Press Association and it's fair to say that we're all a work in progress. I guess it's a bit naive to think that after years of my friends and family gushing over the stuff I've written that a qualified journalist, such as Roberta, would think the same. In short, my friends and family we're being extremely nice don't know a single thing about journalism.
We got our heads round writing press releases today without even the faintest idea of what to do. It was literally the blind leading the blind and it came as no big surprise that a lot of our stuff was either completely rejected or needed more work. Christ, it's like my history of dating all over again.
However, it is only day two and I don't want to already sound so negative about the experience (Mum if you are reading this PLEASE SEND HELP ASAP!!!). It's pushing me outside of my comfort zone and making me THINK about the news is a different light that isn't all bad, right?
Oh and the less said about shorthand the better.
