It is amazing how much can change in just a couple of months. It might just be my improving health after a few days at home, but I'm feeling optimistic.

Here are three reasons why:

1) Writing news stories is a no-brainer: this week I realised there was a missing news story from my folder and without even thinking about it, I took to Google- 15 minutes later I was on the phone and by that afternoon I had a relevant news story. Where this had us in a fluster in the beginning of the course, it is now second nature to all of us.

2) My folder is full: multiple tasks over the past couple months have contributed to a huge portfolio of work and getting the chance to look through it from the beginning really gives me the chance to see how my writing has improved and how the silly mistakes no longer appear in my copy (most of the time!)

3)Spotting the stories: reading a newspaper or blog is no longer the same experience. With every article I can see the opportunity to move the story forward and the contacts I could speak to that would give it a different angle. This all makes writing a lot easier.
