So it's the weekend, and I'm relieved. Just to get a day to eat breakfast in bed, oh what simple luxuries!
However, that is not to say that I'm not enjoying placement. I LOVE IT. I kinda want to stay there and not go back to exams and shorthand.
FYI, I went on placement sure that my 60wpm in shorthand would be sooo useful. It isn't. I spent a day and a half scrawling away like a lunatic, and missing details, that the team took pity on me and gave me a little gizmo that records phone conversations onto a dictaphone. Result. I'm still taking notes, in case the little thing fails on me, but I'm not so desperate to get every. last. word. down. I already bought myself one from Amazon. The shorthand book, meanwhile, is languishing unopened underneath my desk. Sorry Richard.
If you're reading this thinking you would like to do a placement at Vogue or Grazia, you're wrong. Do it at PrintWeek, (they're not paying me to say this, but if you're reading this guys, cash or cheque, thanks!)
The idea of a specialist, business title made me want to cry, but it's the most fun. You get to write things you couldn't have dreamed of two months ago, and better still - you're good at it! No, it's not fashionable, but you get do learn on the job, rather than spending the two weeks folding clothes you'd never be able to afford anyway.
Besides, they know better than to give you the technical stuff, and honestly it's actually really interesting! Do it, now. Apply.
