For me it took until day three for the milestones to start falling by the wayside. The first Vintage Retail Business (our chosen magazine title) meeting, the first copy rejected and the first day that exceeded 12 hours in the office. And I’m sure there will be more of all three to follow.
The rest of the day was comprised of shorthand with Richard (units 3, 4 and 5 today with lots of handy tips) and another day of news, this time with Roberta. This included more on sources and what makes a news story, a few more 50 worders (anyone heard of the woman who set her husband on fire over a disputed chocolate bunny), job applications and of course the dreaded resubs.
Having dealt with the first two resubs to land back at my feet I am now ready to head home. However, I’m sure a few more rejections (or challenges and opportunities as Roberta lovingly calls them) will head back my way over the next few days. And you never know, maybe a couple more landmarks will be passed as well.
