First of all, it's the kind of place where you don't need to have a lot of money to have a wonderful time. Landscapes are so beautiful that you can just pack a picnic, take your car and spend the day out in the mountains or at the beach... I miss the beach too, and the holiday atmosphere. At this time of the year, the streets of the old town are buzzing with tourists speaking a thousand different languages (okay, mainly English and Italian, but still!). Everyone wears sandals and eats ice-cream... Which brings me to the next thing I miss: FOOD! Socca, farcis, pissaladière, ratatouille... Every meal is a feast and lasts hours. I miss having time to eat properly too, but that has nothing to do with London, it's just the PMA craziness!
Another thing I love in my hometown is going out to listen to live music at local pubs... There's a strong English community there, and everybody knows each other... All of those things combined create a very laid-back atmosphere full of simple pleasures.
But to be fair, as much as I miss Nice, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else than here at the moment. PMA is tough, but I love a good challenge, and I already feel much more confident about my ability to become a good journalist. The road is long but I'd say we're definitely on the right track! Now back to Nice for a little cheesy video (ooh, that reminds me, I miss cheese too!)
